the nexis end table is built on a tall, cylindrical drum form, its surface broken by a single vertical cut that runs from base to top, splitting the volume into two interlocking sections. this incision is the defining gesture of the design, introducing negative space and shadow into what would otherwise read as a solid, uninterrupted mass.
the tabletop sits as an oval plane resting across the drum, its edges following the curve of the body below while extending slightly beyond it on one side. the surface is left unembellished, allowing the natural veining and tonal variation across it to stand as the only pattern within an otherwise restrained, monolithic form.
